As mentioned earlier, MKS was quite blessed to have his mother Sangeetha Bhushanam Mrs Thillainayaki Kanakaratnam as his first guru. But MKS is twice blessed in the sense that all his subsequent gurus are also legends in their own right. Sangeethabhushanam Mr .L.Thilaganayagam paul, Shri. Srinivasan and Shri. Ananathanarayanan (Kannan) all fall in this category.

But it won’t be an exaggeration to say that what MKS is today would not have been possible without one man—the great legend Sangeetha Kalanidhi Palghat K.V. Narayanasamy!

For over 7 years, MKS honed his skills under Shri. Palghat K. V. Narayanasamy, in the purest gurukula tradition. During these years, MKS became a fully rounded musician with a knowledge of Carnatic music that was par excellence.

After the untimely demise of his great guru, MKS continued his training with his guru’s wife Smt. Padma. Giving performances was part of the learning and MKS staged quite a few shows when he was learning under Smt. Padma.

During this period, awards came their way and so were the opportunities to launch albums.
